Remy is a 7 year old Brittany Spaniel that was adopted from a rescue association approximately 1 year ago by his owner Virginia. Shortly after Virginia adopted him he was diagnosed by Dr. Toles, our Veterinarian at Animal Health Services in St. Catharines, ON, with glaucoma which is an increase in pressure in the eyeball. It is a very painful and blinding disorder. Remy had to have emergency surgery by Dr. Wolfer, a veterinary ophthalmologist in Toronto, to remove the painful eye. He recovered from this very well but unfortunately soon after, the right eye was also diagnosed with glaucoma and also had to be removed. Despite his limitations, Remy relies on his sense of smell and touch as well as his wonderful owner to help him. He is now pain free and getting on with his now wonderful life with his fantastic new mother. We commend Remy and Virginia’s courage and their devotion to each other.
